To The Chairperson and Members of the Immaculata Veritas Women Alumni
I hope this letter finds you in good health. Firstly, thank you to the Alumni for all the assistance given to us over the past few years. It has helped us immeasurably and we are enormously grateful.
We yet again need your assistance, please: our lighting has become problematic and will only get worse as we face increasing load-shedding in the foreseeable future.
15 classrooms and the Hall are very dark when load-shedding hits. As the Winter Season looms and the June exam approaches and load-shedding hits us over and over again, we are facing a problem with poorly-lit classrooms. Our learners are currently forced to use the cameras on their cellphones to do class work when load-shedding is scheduled.
Our main concern currently is to find a way to light the above-mentioned venues so that our girls can write their exams – even during load-shedding.
Until we have sufficient funds to find a more permanent solution, we will have to employ some temporary measures.
A temporary solution that we are thinking of, is to acquire some rechargeable lights so that we can improve visibility in the 15 classrooms and the Hall where there is currently poor lighting.
We were hoping that the Alumni could assist us with this temporary solution, please.
We will appreciate any assistance that you can give in this regard.

I am proud to say that I am an ex learner and educator of Immaculata. The Immaculata community has been instrumental in shaping the woman I am today through the influence of my educators. I can attest to the fact that the learners come from extremely difficult and challenging social circumstances. The school building has stood the test of time. So , come ladies, lets give back to an institution that has, without a doubt had an impact on your lives. If every alumni just pledge R100 a month, we will be able to contribute towards providing the school with rechargeable lights. I am positive we will be able to achieve this. Yolanda Haupt
